Last summer, Amii testified for the Washington State Women’s Commission, which advocates for the removal of systemic barriers for women and women of color. Happily, Washington State recently passed this bipartisan women on boards legislation – an important step forward. Washington publicly traded corporations now require 25% women on their board. If companies do not meet the diversity requirement, they are required to provide a detailed analysis to shareholders explaining efforts to add diversity (women, racial minorities, and historically underrepresented groups). It’s a thoughtful bill that discusses term limits and refreshment of the board – increasing healthy corporate governance.
Along with a dozen other board members (all women), Amii was recently invited by Forbes to share her top suggestion on the Role of the Board of Directors During a Crisis.
